Groundbreaking Ceremony for West Carrollton Home
The faculty and staff made the commitment to partner with DOHH in the fall of 2006. By the end of the school year, they had raised more than $30,000 from a variety of sources. MHS Student Government kicked off the fundraising efforts by donating the $10,000 earmarked for Homecoming decorations. Several local business and community organizations, including Mechanical Heating, United Grinding Technologies, HUE Home Builders Company, Jozabe Investments, Mehland Developers, Farmers and Merchants Bank and the Monday Night Club donated generously. Several successful fundraising events were also organized by MHS faculty and staff. These included a Scrapbooking event, organized by Science teacher, Sarah Helsinger, A 5-K Race put on by Art teacher, Jennifer Gabbard and a Silent and Live Auction chaired by Social Studies Teacher, Amanda Jones. In addition bake sales, t-shirt sales, pony rides, and "hoops for Habitat" events were held. The entire faculty, staff and student body is looking forward to working with the Gilmer family on their new home! |
